Editorial standards

A house-painting journal that gets the climate wrong is worse than silent. These are the rules we write under.

Reporting

Cost ranges are labelled as 2026 Australian dollar estimates for the south-east of Melbourne, not as quotes. Product names are used as systems (primer plus topcoat, not a logo). We prefer primary sources: AS/NZS 2311, WorkSafe Victoria, EPA Victoria, manufacturer data sheets, Bureau of Meteorology climate notes.

Independence and sponsored links

Manufacturers do not buy our conclusions. If a guest post is accepted under a commercial arrangement, the page says so and any paid outbound link carries rel="sponsored". See the guest post guidelines. We follow Google’s crawlable-links guidance: real <a href> elements, descriptive anchor text, no JavaScript-only navigation.

Corrections

Factual errors are corrected in the article and noted with an updated date. Send evidence through the contact form. We do not silently rewrite history to flatter a product.

Safety

Advice on lead paint, working at heights and mould is general information, not a substitute for a licensed hygienist, a structural engineer or WorkSafe duties. If a wall is crumbling, stop painting and get the building looked at.

Voice

Australian English. Frankston and Peninsula place names spelled as locals spell them. No “click here”. No fake urgency. Neighbour, not neighbor; colour, not color; labour, not labor — except in proper names.
